Lync 2013 to S4B Online

Hello Community,

I've been tasked with gathering information in regards to upgrading our Lync 2013 deployment to S4BO/Teams but I've hit a bit of confusion. Currently we have one central Lync pool hosted in UAE integrated with PTSN which serves all of our global branch offices. Our current license is E3.

While researching, I noticed that Calling Plans are NOT supported in UAE which indicates that we would need to go with Direct Routing due to having only one central site. My project manager was hoping that we would be able to use the Phone System + Calling Plan. Am I correct in assuming that this would only work if our Lync pool was centrally located in the US?

Thanks in advance!

Hello, yes calling plans are only supported in certain regions and countries in the world. A better option for you would be Direct Routing, whereby you can present your existing PSTN connectivity to Microsoft Teams via a certified Session Border Controller (SBC). Let me know if you need more information.
