Add Skype for Business contact in Teams in island mode

Hello,

I have my account moved to Teams in TeamsOnly, the other users are in SFB OnPremises and have island mode with Teams. I have their contact in Teams, when I chat it goes to their Teams. When they chat me from SFB it comes in to my Teams and I can answer back.   Can I add theiy SFB contact in to my Teams contact? I know most of them not yet using Teams, so the only way for me to reach them is to find historical chat (their contact in the chat will appear with SFB icon) and start chating. I'd like to have two accounts in my contact list so that I can initiate chat with both SFB and Teams depending on if they started using new system or not.

Thanks, Dan

  • Hi,

Is this in your organisation or with and external organisation?

I think it is in your organisation since you didn't write anything about it. This is one of the reason you should not use Island mode in production. I know some documents and represents from Microsoft says that there is no problem with Islands mode but in the Real work there is a problem and you noticed one of them.

Since the Island user have Teams chat available chats from a TeamsOnly user will be sent to Teams and not to Skype. The only way to fix this is to use one of the SfB Only modes (with collaboration and/or meetings).

LinusCansby  Thanks Linus, this is a pain, SFBonly is not acceptable for my colleagues. Teams team is not taking seriously co-existence scenarios. But most of the companies are going thought this, no one can afford big bang migrations.
