Universal Print and "Follow me" printing

Hi all,

We have noticed an issue with Universal Print and our current "Follow me" printers (PaperCut) and I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this or could offer up a solution.

We have the connector installed on our print server and pointing towards the Follow Me queue, however, if a user sends a job via Universal Print and then does not release the job the next persons print job will get stuck "processing" and never hit the Follow Me queue until the previous job has been released and appears as "successful" - essentially halting all print jobs in the organisation until they are printed in order.

We have reverted back to installing the printer via the conventional method without Universal Print for now - but would love to be able to use the feature.

Has anyone else also noticed this or have we gone wrong with the configuration somewhere?

Thanks for your time

  • Hi, that is the expected behavior when using the Microsoft Universal Print connector. They will only print the next job after the previous job has printed.
This is one reason PaperCut developed a connector for Universal Print.

    Thanks

      Hi Alan,

      Thanks for your response.

I have since updated PaperCut and setup their own connector, as you correctly said this has now fixed the issue.
