Issues Printing from FIS application via Azure Universal Print
Hi,
I’m facing an issue with Azure Universal Print, and I could really use some guidance.
The Issue
- Setup: I’ve added two HP M507 printers in our office to our Azure instance as Universal Printers.
- Working Scenario: Users can print successfully to these printers using standard applications like Office apps or Notepad.
- Problem: When users attempt to print checks generated by the FIS application, the print job fails, and Azure Universal Print shows the status as ‘Aborted.’ The job name appears as "Citrix ICA Remote Job" with status code: -2147221251.
The checks generated by the FIS application print fine when sent directly to the printer, but the error occurs when routed through Azure Universal Print.
What I’ve Tried So Far
- Document Conversion Feature:
- I enabled the document conversion feature for testing.
- After this, the print jobs no longer show up under the Jobs section in Azure Universal Print. It seems like they are stuck in the conversion process and never reach the printer.
- Interestingly, before enabling document conversion, the failed jobs were at least appearing in the log.
- Changing Content Type:
- I’ve tried switching the content type from application/oxps to application/octet-stream.
- Tested both with the document conversion feature enabled and disabled.
- Unfortunately, the print jobs still failed in both cases.
I’d appreciate any help or suggestions on how to resolve this.
Thanks in advance for your assistance!
Best regards,

fotovat - have you opened a support case with Microsoft?
We are not sure about how Citrix prints through Universal Print. However, it will be worth taking a look at how jobs are reaching the Universal Print service and whats the corresponding failure.
