Error code - online_check_failed: exceeded retry attempts

I am getting the error as Teams initially starts but fails to connect, I used to have an account that worked perfectly with Teams but due to costs, I have changed out for a personal account in Office 365.  Now it seems that Teams is no longer able to verify and I suspect it is trying to do so with the old account.  I have checked the internet connection and if the firewall is blocking Teams.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Teams (various versions of it) about 25 times now and looked at any updates that may have resulted in conflicts.  I am at a loss.  Have looked at other postings pertaining to the same error, and nothing helped.

I have fixed the desktop version of Teams. My virus scanner was seeing Teams as a threat, and no amount of excluding Teams from being scanned prevented the blockage of Teams. So, I have opted to discontinue using the Kaspersky virus scanner and went with another one.

When I start up Teams there is a box that sits in the middle of my screen and it just waits, there is no opportunity to login.  And then when it fails I get a panel across the full screen that says retry or logout of the account with the error at the lower left corner.  I have tried the restart many times and the logout never lets me logout.  I never am given the option to try another account.  And when I do the export out of logs the logs actually say they can not authenticate to Microsoft.

I do not have the Windows firewall active and can check that Teams is accessing the ports it needs as well as the internet.  The other thing Teams does is read a JSON file from the address: https://teams.microsoft.com/settings  and it appears this file updates how Teams authenticates.  This works and it updates the settings.JSON file but it never authenticates nor connects from the desktop app.

I have resorted to use the webapp, it is ok but has some limitations.
