MS Teams Connector end of support clarification

We have Teams integration setup for our app and have a couple questions about the recent announcement of the end of support for Teams connectors:

– Are teams tab apps affected by this? Or only connector use that posts into teams channels and conversations?
– Is the use of the https://teams.microsoft.com/share URL to post into channels affected by this?

  • timothyrich - The recent announcement regarding the end of support for Teams connectors specifically mentions the retirement of Office 365 connectors within Microsoft Teams. This change will affect connectors that post content and service updates directly from third-party services into a Teams channel. The retirement process will occur in two waves, with new connector creation being blocked starting August 15th, 2024, and all connectors ceasing to function by October 1st, 2024. Microsoft recommends transitioning to Power Automate workflows as a more scalable, flexible, and secure solution to relay information into and out of Teams.

    To address your questions:

    • The tab apps will continue to function, but any connector functionality within those apps that posts updates to channels or conversations will be affected.
    • The announcement does not provide details on the use of the share URL to post into channels. However, if this functionality relies on Office 365 connectors, it may be impacted by the retirement.

    Thanks,

    Prasad Das

Prasad_Das-MSFT Thanks for the informative answer!

Any suggestions on how we can find out of the share url will be impacted. We are assessing whether we need to make updates to our app before Oct.

      Thanks

      Tim

      Hello Team,

Currently we are using the incoming webhooks in Teams to send the notifications across teams, However, we see there will be retirement for incoming webhooks in Teams by next year December 2025 as per last update.

Just need confirmation from you people Is that time line is fixed for the support of incoming webhooks is extended to next year December 2025 or we have to replace with Power Automate or with any other connector in place of Incoming Webhooks by this Year end it self ( December 2024) because it's not easy to replace all the Teams URL's with new Office 365 connector in this limited time.

So, please confirm what is the exact time line for the retirement plan for Incoming Webhooks in Teams and Is it Ok we can keep using it till next year march then will start migrating to new Office 365 Connector from next Year April 2025?

      Thanks,

      Sagar
