Live Translation in Teams
Would it be possible to to have a live text-text translation in MS Teams?
AshiqAbdulKhader, Microsoft Teams already supports live captioning and transcription features, which can include translation into different languages. However, if you're asking about a live text-to-text translation feature (e.g., translating chat messages or meeting captions in real-time), here are some possibilities:
- Live Captions with Translation:
- Teams provides live captions during meetings, and you can enable translation for captions into a different language.
- To enable this:
- During a meeting, go to the meeting controls and select More options (...) > Turn on live captions.
- Then, select Subtitles and choose the desired language for translation.
- Inline Message Translation:
- Teams supports inline translation for chat messages.
- To translate a message:
- Hover over the message, click on More options (...), and select Translate.
- This feature is enabled by default for most organizations but can be managed by the Teams admin.

I have several friends in China that use Skype and now/soon Teams. Skype still automatically translates their messages for me, but the same is not true for Teams. THIS SEEMS LIKE A BLOCKING ISSUE for the Skype to Teams migration. This happens on both the Android app as well as the Microsoft.Teams desktop app. Also, on these two apps, manually selecting the Translate message option does not work.
