Surface Pro type cover no longer working

Left my Surface Pro 2017 on all night. An update was installed overnight as I had to reboot this morning. Even before I rebooted, however, the type cover was not responding. I hoped that the reboot would reactivate it, but it didn't. I have tried just about everything short of reinstalling Windows, but my Surface Pro will not recognize when I connect my type cover.

At least one other person seems to have encountered this issue [1] with their Surface Pro. Might it be related to the update? Any advice?
