Unable To Install Canon Pixma G1010 With Microsoft Surface 7th Edition
Hi ,
I recently purchased Microsoft Surface 7 th Edition Snapdragon(R) X 12-core X1E80100 @ 3.40 GHz (3.42 GHz), 64-bit operating system, ARM-based processor
I am unable to install my Canon Pixma G1010 printer on this machine.
Download and install the software xp68-win-g1000-5_91-ea34_2.exe was successful.
However I am unable to add this printer to my Surface laptop.
Please help to configure printer on Surface.
Regards,
Sareesh

This one’s pretty simple but annoying, your Surface is ARM-based and Canon never released ARM drivers for the G1010. The installer runs, but Windows can’t actually add the printer because the driver won’t load. There’s no real fix other than using a different printer that supports Windows ARM, sharing the printer from another PC, or printing via a generic/IPP driver if you’re lucky. It’s a driver limitation, not something you’re doing wrong.
