Surface Laptop 7 – White ripples near the hinges

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Laptop 7 (15-inch, Snapdragon X Elite, 16GB RAM). When I move the screen, bright white ripples appear near the bottom edge, above the hinges. They disappear as soon as I stop moving the display.

I returned the laptop to the retailer and am waiting for Microsoft's response.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Is it normal or a hardware defect?

Thanks!

    Hi,

That doesn’t sound normal to me. If the white ripples appear whenever you move the screen and disappear when you stop, it could be related to the display panel or its connection near the hinges.

Since the laptop is new, I think returning it was the right move. I’d wait for Microsoft’s response rather than risk trying to fix anything yourself.

Hopefully, they can confirm whether it’s a hardware issue and get you a replacement if needed.

Please share what Microsoft says. It would be helpful for others facing the same problem.
