Charge cycle on dock

Hi all

 

My apologies if this has been posted somewhere else, but I have been looking for an answer over the weekend and not landed on a solid approach.

I have Surface Laptop 3, I work remote and mainly based at home so my laptop is always docked. I had this with my Surface Book where the battery stopped holding its charge because it was always plugged in to the docking station at 100% charge.

 

My question is how to maintain battery life (preferably by charging and discharging) without undocking. I could undock as a last resolution to discharge but it means I cant use my external screens.

 

I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
