If your Surface Book 2 fails to boot and you don’t have a pre-prepared image on a USB drive, it can be extremely frustrating. This situation is particularly painful when the Windows logo starts flashing, followed by a boot failure and an error message stating “.Dfi file not found.” This issue is often due to the root base software that your Surface relies on to boot, in addition to the Windows OS files. It’s important to note that most publicly shared laptops and PCs are domain-restricted, making it almost impossible to use your USB to create an online image, so trying to do so can be a waste of time.
