New Surface Hub 2S 85, Teams needs update to work, but the Update just fails
Hi cezarcretu
I have set the maintenance hours from 8pm to 10am and I can see in Entra that the Surface Hub is still on the same build number.
It has been several weeks now and if even a 14 hour maintenance window is not enough, quiet frankly there is something wrong with the update. As I have already factory reset the device once and still have the same issue and someone else has also reported this issue, it seems that this issue is reproducible.
While I could get Teams running for now the Surface Hub wants to reboot after every concluded meeting and is then again stuck on the Update. We have let this run over night and over the weekend and it is just stuck on the reboot.
Kind regards,

Hi fdurchlaub,
I can verify that the upgrade took about 7-8 hours (I am not lying here, it really took that long) and the bigger cumulative update about 6 hours (not lying here either). This is definitely not a normal behaviour.
The reimage tool is a joke as it has exactly the same version of the windows team version as it was already preinstalled on the Hub, so you still have to go through the upgrade and update process... .
Also, one of the hubs actually "failed" the upgrade or update as teams was not in the same version as the other hub, but windows thought that it actually was up to date (but it was not), so I had to completely reset the hub again and go through the whole process again... . Now, both Hubs are up to date. It took me a whole weekend with the hubs, totally unacceptable... .

Well at least you got it working. My hubs are a 4 hour train ride away in a remote office, so this whole setup was super frustrating.
So did you just let the update run and eventually it finished?- Patty88Oct 25, 2023Copper ContributorYes, I just left them install the upgrades and updates (the cumulative update needs to be triggered manually, after the upgrade), so eventually the devices were up to date. Just make sure that the devices stay powered on, so they do not go on standby (Power and sleep options).
I still do not understand why there is no teamviewer version for this os version after all these years, it would help so much, especially in your case... .
Having said this, still, for the 13K price tag this is absolutely a no go and Microsoft should do something about it.- fdurchlaubOct 25, 2023Copper ContributorAh thanks the fact that it goes into standby is probably why it hasn't updated yet.
I agree, these things a super expensive and this has caused me a lot of
unnecessary headaches.
