Migrated Surface Hub 2S to MTRoW - 3 things I don’t like
In my case we have Surface hub 2S with 50" screens. We were projecting the Surface hub screen over to big projector using HDMI out.
After Win11 MTRoW update, HDMI out does not work as well which is huge problem for us, and the Surface hub screen way too small for our rooms.
( I also found that when you go to Windows admin side, HDMI works perfectly fine, so this does looks like MTR app is not capable of handling second monitor via HDMI.
I also tried configuring extended monitor using xml file assuming this work as a normal MTR, but there is no luck with that either).
I have currently opened a case with Microsoft, hope they can give us a solution.
I hope your case gets some movement and positive change out of the MTR team.

Just to share what I did so far trying to resolve the External monitor issue
a. With Win11, Surface hub supposed to work like MTR device. So tried enable Extended monitor setting using XML configuration file just like MTR device.
b. Tried enabling "dual screen' mode on Teams Admin center and MTR pro portal (note that after device reboot, the setting seems revert back to single display mode
c. Tried setting up "duplicate" monitor in Windows (admin) side.
Nothing is working so far.
I have scheduled a troubleshooting session with Microsoft on this Friday, hope that we can move ahead with a resolution. Failing which I may have to go back to Windows 10 version, just because projecting over to external ( big screen) is must for our rooms.
- MikeJames395Jul 30, 2024Copper ContributorHave you managed to find a workaround for this? I have been given a workaround from MS (which also doesn't work):
On both Hub 3, Hub 3 Pack and Hub 2s running MTR-W customers can no longer utilize the DP output port to mirror the on-screen display to another screen or projector. This is not a failure or regression but is rather a feature not yet supported in MTR-W on Surface Hub hardware. As a workaround customers can log into settings as admin -> windows -> project/duplicate -> windows tile -> click "switch skype - logged in" (do not log out of admin and log back into skype) and mirroring will work. Unfortunately, this needs to be repeated after a reboot as this is not a permanent setting.
This is causing a big issue!!- NickK890Jul 30, 2024Brass Contributor
MikeJames395 , We do not have a solution yet. We had a case open with MS Support, no solution either. We are thinking of moving back to Windows 10 just because of this issue.
