At least in the past, Word hasn't been very good at handling large tables. If you are saying that the table spans over all of the pages in your document, at least make sure that you insert a new row on each page. That should make the document respond more quickly.

 

If you want someone to have a look, you can share a sample document with the same setup. Of course, you shouldn't share any sensitive content. Upload your sample to (say) OneDrive or Dropbox and post a share link in this thread.
