Why are there still two sharing dialogs for a file/folder?

I've been wondering why, when I want to share a file/folder in a SPO document library, I'm presented with two options that on the surface seem to accomplish the same thing.

Yep, the "Grant Access" flow is just the legacy sharing dialog (more optimized for direct permissioning). Both exist as the latter is still used by some users, but we definitely want to make this distinction more clean and understandable. Thanks,

One is for sharing and the common share method. Granting access is used for granting direct access to an item and not necessarily send a share message etc. you can add security groups etc. and it’s a more advanced view of permissions. Yeah you can sort of do the same thing but it’s the legacy approach but main point is custom permissions.
By the way, I agree that having this option in the UI is quite confusing ...it also opens the old sharing dialog
- Should just say "advanced permisisons" or something, but the button needs to be there to access legacy window, otherwise there is no other way, than a url hack to get to it anymore :p.
