Agree this is counter-productive. Seems there should be a SuperAdmin (True Owner) along with Share Creator (Owner w/ limited administrative).
Not sure why the system wouldn't allow a reduction in permissions on users added... but ALAS!
Pretty sure something has changed within last few years, I could have sworn that I've been able to change these in the past.
