Unable to delete a list column

Hello
In a sharepoint list, I added a column from existing site columns with the Add to all content types and Add to default display options checked.
But I realize that I don't need this column.
So I hidden it in the default display mode but it still appears in the element properties fields.
How can I permanently remove this column so that it no longer appears in the Edit View menu and in the Item fields ?
