SMTP relay

I would like to know smtp Queue, waiting time or how to handling emails when SP2019 is set to you a smtp to Lotus Notes mail server. 

I try to Google but without any documentation, would you advise?

We are implementating SharePoint 2019, and review the network capacity and load to the SMTP services.
