Sharing is limited on this item

We have Microsoft Teams connected SharePoint site. The one thing that team members have noticed is that they see the option “Sharing is limited on this item” before sharing any files which was not there before and now owners are still receiving email notifications for approval even though users (both senders and receivers) do already have access. Does anyone have insight?  Is there some sharing limitation set in SharePoint? Nothing has changed with site sharing settings.

I'm having the same issue. My users are pretty frustrated.

Thanks JanisZ595 but I had checked this feature previously and it was disabled as it is on all of our SharePoint sites.

NEvans670 It's also disabled on my sites.

It looks like it's not an error. However, the pop-up window could've been designed better to avoid confusing people.

You used to be able to click the send button, but there would be a red warning saying not everyone on the list had access. If everyone on the list had access, the red warning wouldn't appear.

When it did appear, people would hit send anyway, and the people who didn't have access would still be sent the file but couldn't open it.

It looks like MS removed the red warning, and more subtle verbiage replaced it ("Sharing is limited on this item. You can only copy links for people who have existing access, and you can't invite anyone new.")

The pop-up window confuses people because it's so similar to what they're used to seeing, and the send button is still there, just disabled. It makes it look like there's a permission issue.

The message says to click the "Copy link" button and email or Teams it to people. In my opinion, they should remove the disabled Send button altogether.

Mohit Sharmadid you manage to find a solution?

Encountered today the same error: "Sharing is limited for this item.
You can only copy links for people with existing access and you can't invite new people".

    Thank you!

I have a similar issue where users can't copy links for people with existing access. It's an issue that's recently happened in only one of our SharePoint sites.

We too have been having this issue for a while: not being able to use the 'send' button (it's greyed out) to send to colleagues that already have access to the site, library or folder where that item is. Very frustrating!

Users across our organization were met with a similar fate as of recently. My main account was unaffected but my 'testing' account had the new MS update & produced the same result (invite/share greyed out).
At the top of the Share window, click the Triple ellipsis & select 'Send Link in Outlook'.
Let Outlook load, (one user had to do this process twice).
    Refresh your browser.
Come back in & then click Share.
For us, the buttons were no longer greyed out which leads me to believe it's a broken link between SharePoint & Outlook.
    Hope this fixes you too!!
