Sharepoint link from site to page and breadcrumbs problem

I have set up a link from a main site to a page.  When I click the link to the page, the breadcrumbs end up showing the next level up as the storage area for all of my pages.  If my users click this, they are obviously not returned to the main site.  Instead, they see a list of all of the pages that exist.  I don't want this.  Is there anyway to change this so the next level up in the breadcrumbs would just return them to their starting point on the main site, where they initially clicked the link?
