SharePoint 2019 User Profile Service not syncing

I've configured the user Profile Service Application in my new farm but I've noticed no profiles are coming in. Looking at the event log I see the following:

 

I'm using the same account I'm using in my SharePoint 2013 User Profile Service and that account is running fine.

 

If you've seen this issue, I'd appreciate some guidance.

    sterbella The account running the User Profile Service Application did not have directory sync permission. once granted the issue was resolved.
