I work for a state government agency and we are planning on building a new SharePoint environment (on-premise). Our license allows us to install either 2016 or 2019. Sometimes it's good to not instal...

My recommendation here is to go to SharePoint 2019...in the core is a SP 2016 with some modern features we have in SPO

If someone has a custom application (built in 2010) and it's migrated to the new environment, it wouldn't make a difference if it's 2016 or 2019, correct? I mean as far as compatibility is concerned. In other words, any compatibility issues in 2016 would also occur in 2019.
