SharePoint 2016 search index size calculation

Hi,

What's the current best practice for sizing search index volumes in SharePoint 2016 farms? Are there any TechNet articles, spreadsheets or technical posters available that describe how to calulate this?

For example, if I have 1TB of content stored in SharePoint mostly consisting of Office and PDF files, what size should I make the index volumem on the Index servers?
