Re: sharepoint migration/roadmap
Interview the existing users to find out what they like about how files are currently stored and what they don't like. Find out why the file system was configured the way it was.
- Implement a new structure that users will want to use.
- Don't bring the old junk to the new house.
- Don't be afraid to totally revamp the business processes, this is a good chance to make some major improvements.
- Don't try to do everything at once
- Identify any major regulatory or security requirements and activate the relevant features for these first
- Identify some quick wins and get them implemented so that people can see the benefit and be supporters instead of roadblocks
- Find some people that are against change, find out what concerns them, show them something that they want, eliminate some of their frustrations and then they may be advocates

Thank you that is some great advice! I think i'm just feeling a little overwhelmed and breaking it down according to requirements, needs, and quick wins will help me get my thoughts in better order.

Yep, that is a very common feeling, many of the people in this community have been there many times :). Keep coming back and asking questions, we will try to help out whenever possible.
