Modern Sharepoint List items changes not saved

Good morning.  I created a SharePoint list that is excessive in size (11k items).  I have set up multiple views as well as indexing to help with the sheer size of the list.  The biggest complaint I have from users is that their changes are not being saved when they edit an item.  I've made sure they're using Chrome (IT strongly suggested that) and have noticed if the user tries to exceed 255 characters in a text field, it will not save.  However, I cannot find any other reason a change wouldn't save to an item.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
