Migrate classic Team sites

I would like to know any recommendations or best practices for migrating SharePoint classic team sites to Modern team sites in SharePoint Server 2019.

 

Note that I am not talking about SharePoint online but migrating from SP 2013 to SP 2019.

 

Any links or reference articles ?

 

I have read and understood most documentation is related to migrating SharePoint Online

      Unfortunately the modernization tooling only applies to SPO, not Server 2019.

    Your only options are to:

    1) Create a new modern site
    2) Migrate the content (Lists/Libraries only)
    3) Re-create Pages from scratch

    There is no conversion utility for classic to modern sites for SharePoint 2019.

    Hi SinhaKislay ,

     

    It depends on the functionality of your existing teams sites and if there are many pages to convert from classic to Modern. 

     

    If you dont have many pages then my advice would be to migrate all the content, document libraries/lists etc and rebuild the front pages. The functionality has changed so take advantage of the new webparts and the opportunity to think about navigation and structure at the same time. It provides a perfect opportunity for your teams to tidy up their data ready for the move.
