Log level settings change spontaneously

One of my clients has a SP 2010 farm and the log levels keep changing to Verbose. I have reset them using Central Admin to Default but after several hours, the Health Analyzer shows that "The following categories are configured with verbose logging levels. This may adversely affect disk usage and performance. None, Deployment, Provisioning, DataAccess, BackendServices, User, SharePointData, UserProfile, SharePointAPI, WebParts, Configuration, Win32, TimerJob, UserProfileSyncJob, RetentionCleanupJob, ReportingLoadJob, NotificationCleanupJob, DigestJob, CommunityCleanupJob, ActivityEventDataAccess, Features, ServiceProxy, EmailServices, Platform, CommunityPlatform, WebService, ActivityFeedPublisher, NewsStreamContent, CachingApplication, ActiveUserCountLicenseReportJob"

Has anyone seen this type of behavior ? any suggestions about how to troubleshoot?

  • I'd look at external sources doing this. You can see which process in ULS that is making this change, you'll just have to identify the time in which the change is being made.
