Linking SharePoint sites to a Team

Question

My organization recently switched to 365. Several groups have been using Teams since the switch. We did not realize initially that a SharePoint site was created for each team.

A team member has set up SharePoint sites for each department.

Is there a way to create Teams from each SharePoint site so that the teams and site work seamlessly?

Can we link the newly created HR SharePoint site to the existing HR Team in Teams?
