Item-level read access not working for SP List

Hi,

I'm using a Power Automate flow to assign reading permission to a specific user for an individual item in a SharePoint list. However, when the user clicks a link to the item there is an error message saying that the item does not exist. When the same user uses a link for the full list, he can see some items in the list but not this one.

I compared the permission setting for these items and the seem to be exactly the same. The user has "Read" access in both cases. What could cause this behavior?

Best,

Erik

  • Hi ErikSummer

It sounds more like the link is incorrect.

If the user does not have access, a “access denied” error message will appear.

Check the link you are sending to the user.

    Best, Dave

      Hi Dave,

Thanks for getting back to me. However, the link is fine as it works for other people. The user cannot see this item even when he views the list itself. He can only see a few of the other items.

In the meantime, I have had an additional observation: Once I assign "Full control" at the item level, the access works (including via the link). It does not work with "Edit", "Contribute" or "Read" which I all checked.

I also noticed that the flow is running on the account of a colleague who is not an owner of the list. Not sure if this has something to do with it.

      Best,

      Erik
