issue/bug rendition in SharePoint not showing news article thumbnails?

The news timeline isnt showing thumbnail images anymore. However when opening the news item the thumbnail image is still available. This happened for all articles on the site and worked well before. when reatatching the image items the thumbnail will work again

Any suggestions/tips?
