At Ignite, several Microsoft people said it was only rolled out the 50% of first release customer. It also sounds like they slow down their rollout process when the are "busy" with other high priorities, like getting ready for Ignite. I hope it happens soon, since I'm still waiting too.
I have been seeing parts of the modern sites in different tenants. I built a beautiful intranet page using Pages for a Lunch and Learn I ran for a client. The reaction to the Page was amazement. It's about time SharePoint became beautiful!
