Highlighted Content Part Site Link

Selecting the site name under News from sites on the SharePoint landing page takes one to the site home page. Perfect!

Selecting the same in a Highlighted content web part set to display news type in a site collection on a page takes one to the site pages library where the page resides. Confusing.

Is anyone else experiencing the same behavior?

Yes it's been like that since it came out. I suggest now using the News webpart to roll up your news since there is now a "Source" filter on the news webpart allowing you to filter the news from sites you need.
