Help creating a link that opens OneNote in the APP that is hosted on SharePoint
I have a notebook that is hosted on a SharePoint site. I have several coworkers that have to move around from PC to PC depending on where they are assigned each week. Currently each time they mov...
- Apr 16, 2021If anyone come across this I figured it out:
1. Open the notebook in one note.
2. In the upper left where you select your book right click and select "Copy link to this notebook"
3. Past this link into notepad. There will be two links. Copy the one that reads like this:
onenote:https://linktoyouronenoteonsharepoint
4. Create a shortcut on your desktop and past this link in. This link should launch directly to one note instead of to your browser.

When I use the solution posted here, my link works when I paste it into the browser address bar, but when I try to create the same link in a SharePoint document library I get the message "please enter a valid URL," and doesn't allow me to create the link. I need the notebook link to reside in a shared document library but was hoping it would open in the app. Any other ideas? Thanks!

I found a solution to open a notebook in Sharepoint (app or browser) using a Quick Link-component:
- Go to the location of the notebook file in your document library
- Click the 3 dots to open the menu
- Click 'Open' to check the options 'In browser' / 'In app'
- When you click on 'Open in browser', there will appear a URL in your address bar
- Copy this URL
- Make a Quick Link on your SP-site and paste the above URL.
- Click this Quick Link
(Using this URL it also loads up much faster, than when you use the URL generated in notebook itself)
