Hi Christopher,
Thanks for the prompt reply. I store the files on my laptop and I am the only user; so, I think that the format of the files should not change. Can you tell me what could be causing the change.
Thanks

Hi Christopher,
I don't think that the files are synced; how can one check? If the files are not synced, what could be the cause.
I observed today that the margins of the pages change and that causes the overflow of the pages. I tried changing the margins, but to no avail; quite a few other settings were disturbed with that and the whole file gets messed up. I think it happens only after I give a print or print preview command. I checked the settings in the print dialogue, and they are the same as what I used before this issue started.

Hi Christopher,
Thanks for the help. I have checked the options and the file is saved on the disc. I think the update has changed some settings; when I compare a print of an earlier version of the file, the spaces between the lines have increased ( I have checked the settings and they show as they are the same as before, but the spaces seem more) and the age margins have increased. These have resulted in the text spilling over and the pages in the file increasing. The 100 page file is now a 110 page file. Inflation, I guess!! Anyway, whenever I change the settings to what they were previously, they change back automatically to what they are now. No I know how Sisyphus must have felt! I've made my peace and have changed the index to reflect the new page numbers. Too much effort already lost to change things back to what they were. I've saved the file in PDF format to prevent any further changes and will print the PDF version.
Thanks again for your help.

However, anyone that has edit rights to the file could have the same thing happening. Anyway, if the file is on SharePoint, you should try downloading the "Correct" version to your local computer, and then open the file and see if the problem happens. The auto save stuff can only work when the file is opened from SharePoint. Then you will know if it's that doing it or just the client itself doing it.
