External User Account Creation

Thank you for your replies.

Are you suggesting that I add users with business email addresses via B2B and users with consumer emails via an alternative method?  Can you explain the process to add the consumer e-mails to Azure AD?  I know how to add a users, but I then have 4 choices,

New user in organisation

User with existing Microsoft account

User in another Microsoft Azure AD directory

Users in partner companies

 

Any advice would be much appreciated.

You need to pick Users in partner companies. When you add users with business email addresses via B2B they will receive an invite to access this site. You can also use ADD-SPOUSER cmd to provision users to site even if they have not accepted the access invite. You can use this cmd after adding users to Azure AD.

    I don’t have a preference to use B2B, I am looking for the most efficient method to invite 200 external users to my SharePoint online site. I have only 2 additional requirements,

    1. The external user can reset their password
    2. The external user is not required to enter lots of personal date to create the account

    If I use B2B to provision users with a commercial email I am still unsure how to provision external users with personal emails?

      Does anybody have eny experinace in this area?

        I have created test email box in several different consumer services so that I can verify for myself exactly what happens and collect some screen shots for training purposes. These processes change frequently as MS gets feedback and tries to integrate their various systems. In fact, they just announced another upcoming change to consolidate their business and consume account login processes.
