decrease versioning of SPO

Hi everyone

Please advise for me.

I have site SPO and make retention FOREVER, so keep all versioning of SPO.

Question: after disable retention then automation decrease down versioning to default version?

for exam: have a file have 700 version, after disable retention the file auto decrease down to 500 version ( default)?

    In my understanding NO, it will only allow the user to delete that specific files. But be aware this reply is AS IS you must dig the document.
