Can I track who made changes to a column setting in a SharePoint list

I have a column in a SharePoint list that has been changed by someone - The column was a calculated field but someone changed it to remove the calculation and left it as a text field.

Is it possible to see who made the change? And what change was made? I can't seem to use the Audit feature so I am hoping there is another way.

Also, while I'm at it. Is it possible to 'lock' that column setting so no one can change it again?

Thank you

  • Hi Ann_DAS -

In the Compliance Admin Center, you can run an audit report on who modified list columns

As far as locking down a column - you can make sure that everyone except a very select few only have Contribute or Read rights, not Edit or Full Control- but that has to be at the List level, not possible at the column level.

    I hope that helps!
