Track equipment capacity in MS Project

How about this idea. Set up the equipment as an equipment work resource with a Max Unit value of 40. Then assign that resource to each sample set task as shown. Note, I've arbitrarily linked the sample sets so that the overallocated set is more obvious.
To get a more "telling" view, try the Resource Usage view with detail rows as shown. It's easy to see where the trouble starts and how big the issue is.
