Row height issue
- Jul 19, 2025
VojtechBednar,
It may be an issue of corruption of your Gantt Chart view. You might try this:
- Switch to any view other than the Gantt Chart view
- Open the Organizer (File > Info > Organize Global Template).
- Select the Gantt Chart view in the list on the right side and hit Delete
4. Close out of the Organizer and select your Gantt Chart view. Does the row height stay fixed as you edit?

I've recently been experiencing an issue in Microsoft Project 2016 (Version 2505 Build 16.0.18827.20102) 64-bit related to automatic row height adjustment. Anytime I make a change to any row, like updating the % Completion—Project, it randomly increases the height of some rows. The problem isn’t resolved by toggling Wrap Text. When I click it, the rows return to a single-line view temporarily, but as soon as I make another edit in the Gantt chart, the row height changes again. So effectively, after every minor update, I have to re-toggle Wrap Text just to maintain a consistent row height. I've already reviewed other forum suggestions, such as: Ensuring all Bar Styles are set to Row 1, Removing bar text in Bar Styles, Adjusting bar height in Bars/Layout settings. Unfortunately, none of these steps have fixed the issue. At this point, I’m wondering whether this is a software bug or if there's a hidden setting that overrides row formatting during task updates. If anyone has found a working solution, I’d appreciate the help. We’re also exploring ways to automate reporting and sync project status updates through third-party tools. If anyone has experience working with a https://i3solutions.com/hire-power-automate-developers/that has dealt with similar formatting behavior via automated flows or extensions, please feel free to share insights. Thanks in advance!
goharclients03,
Did you try re-setting your Gantt Chart via the Organizer as I suggested above?
I'm not aware of any bug in Project relating to this issue and there is no hidden setting.
