Resource Unit Calculation Error

Instead calculating a unit value for a resource given that it is schedule for above or below an eight-hour day schedule (based on fixed duration or fixed work), my resource simply increases or decreases the number of hours worked each day despite the resource and task sharing a calendar that stipulates eight-hour days from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. I have had similar issue since I started using Project with the 2016 edition. I have resources measured in non-percentage decimal numbers if that has anything to do with it.

Any ideas?
