Resource Allocation in Project for the Web

Hi All -

I'm new to Project for the Web and am exploring it's features to see if it will be a good fit for my organization.

My organization utilizes data acquisition (DAQ) equipment that is costly and limited in availability. We have multiple projects that require this DAQ equipment, and when it's not properly tracked we run into cases where it needs to be in two places at once.

For example: I need DAQ unit D43-1 in Oregon for a task on Project A from 10/1 to 10/15. D43-1 is also assigned to a task on Project B in Tennessee from 10/4 to 10/13.

My question is, does Project for the Web (not Project Online) have the capability to assign these DAQ resources to tasks, and then notify me when it is being overallocated across multiple projects?

Thank you!

Yes, you can assign the DAQ resource to tasks in multiple projects, but Project for the Web will not notify you when the resource is overallocated across projects. You could see this information displayed in a Power BI report, but you would need to view that report regularly to monitor for the usage of this resource. Hope this helps.
