Reassigning two generic resources to the same actual resource
Hi there,
I'm wondering if its possible to do the following:
I have set up templates with Generic Resources, for example a Product Manager and a Category Manager etc.
When these templates are used for real projects, depending on project complexity the same person may be responsible to the tasks assigned to both the Product and Category Manager.
Is there any way to assign the same real resource to two generic resources using Build Team from Enterprise?

Good question. No, you cannot use the Build Team dialog to replace two Generic resources with the same human resource. Instead, do the following. In the Build Team dialog, add the human resource to the project team and then close the dialog. Next, apply the Using Resource... filter and filter for tasks assigned to the Product Manager resource. Select each of the tasks assigned to the Product Manager resource, then display the Assign Resources dialog. In the Assign Resources dialog, select the Product Manager resource and then click the Replace button. In the Replace Resource dialog, select the name of the human resource and then click the OK button. Reapply the Using Resource... filter and select the Category Manager resource. Repeat the same process for replacing this Generic resource with the human resource in question. It's a little more work, I realize, but it will get the job done for you. Hope this helps.
