FILE TASK DATES CHANGE UPON OPENING FILE
Hi John-project ,
I don't have a file right now that I can share immediately. The file in question has confidential information from our projects, so I won't be able to share it.
As far as I am aware though, project settings are saved within the project file itself - so as far as changing these to make them match, I didn't think that this would be the root-cause. Although, I have ensured that these match anyway. The fiscal year calendar has not changed, and both my colleague and I get different results when copying the file to one another via USB, as well as opening the exact same file in SharePoint.
I mentioned above as well that I even went as far as re-installing MS Project and ensuring that we are both running the same version and the same build and this hasn't helped, so it makes me wonder what is happening inside MS project that is causing things to be different.
The option regarding choosing to level resourcing or not also doesn't seem to make a difference. When I open some other files, then they appear okay, but it also could be because a majority of the tasks in that project are manually scheduled instead of automatically scheduled. So it leads me to believe that there's something in that.
ongie15,
As I noted, it's hard to be of much help if I can't see the file but there are a few things I'd like to ask.
- Exactly what version of Project are you using? You indicate its Project 2021 but is it a standalone desktop version, Standard or Pro or what exactly?
- Is it hosted on a remote server or locally on your hard drive?
- Is it a single file or part of a linked structure (e.g. master/subproject or pool/sharer)?
- Why are you using manually scheduled tasks?
- Are you using leveling?
- Do any tasks have constraints and is so, what kind?
- Do any tasks have splits?
- Did you set a baseline?
- Do all tasks have at least one predecessor and one successor except for the first and last tasks in the plan?
If I sent you a macro to remove all sensitive information from your file, would you be able/willing to share it?
