New to MS Project - Changing start dates not being picked up.

I can duplicate your problem. You will need to do the following:
1. Click the File tab and then click the Options tab in the Backstage.
2. Click the Schedule tab in the Project Options dialog.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the Schedule page.
4. In the Calculation section of the page, select the "On" option to turn on automatic recalculation of your project.
5. Click the OK button.
