MS Project Resource Pool Usage
- Nov 22, 2023
Hi Tamsons .
Try inserting the Cost column into the Resource usage view table, and group by the Project field and Then by Name, selecting in the Group form: "Group assignments, not resources" selected, "Project" in Field Name, "Assignment" in Field Type, "Name" in Field Name, and "Resource" in Field Type.
I hope you find it useful.

Ignacio_Martin thanks for your help, I have the same situation and it worked for me to get project cost and hours (Work) for shared resources. Now I realize that for %-Allocation the same logic doesn't work as expected. I posted the following question: Show correct %-Allocation in Resource Usage for a specific project when using Resource Pool. If you have any idea on how to solve this, please help answer the question. Thanks so much.

See the answer I posted to your original question.

- TamsonsNov 22, 2023Copper ContributorAh, I may have cracked this. It doesn't total each resource for each project. So any feedback on that would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Hi Tamsons.
Below the reply box, a text that says "Open full text editor" is displayed, from where you can insert images. If it doesn't appear, you may need to register.
I attach an image of the resources (R1, R2, R3) grouped by projects (Project A, Project B, Project C), with their corresponding and totaled allocations and costs.
Regards.
- TamsonsNov 23, 2023Copper ContributorThanks for getting back I managed to get the summary and the totals for each each resource. I had to do it slightly differently. Thanks for all your time. Another question I have is. Does MS Project create an embedded master when you allocate resources from a resource pool? I have a project one with all the projects embedded in it and I didn't create it.
- TamsonsNov 22, 2023Copper ContributorI have grouped by the project field and have tried to do a custom group in the resource name field and am getting a blank window as below.
Sorry this won't let me post a copied image? - TamsonsNov 22, 2023Copper Contributor
Thanks for this reply. I have added the costs field in. How do I access the group by window to do the grouping you suggest?
