MS project link to excel
Is there a way to link the ms to Excel without creating an array?

- RodFrommIron ContributorAs previously mentioned, can you elaborate on what you are trying to do? Are you working with projects in Project Online or .mpp files? You can connect to either using Power Query via Excel or Power BI.

What exactly are you trying to link between the two apps? And what do you mean by "creating an array"?
There are a few different ways to share data between Project and Excel. Of course there is always the copy/paste approach. There is also Project's import/export wizard and Project's Visual Reports feature. Personally I think VBA is the most versatile.

Hi John,
Thank you for the reply.
Here's what i have:
Project timeline, lots of details.
I need to create a summary of certain tasks from the master timeline in excel.
if i copy/link the ms project in excel, it will generate an array, which i cannot format or change anything.

First of all, what version of Project are you using (i.e. standalone desktop, Project Online, Project for the Web, etc.)?
When you talk about the timeline, are you referring to the Timeline view? What exactly do you define as "the master timeline"?
Copy and link are two different things. What exactly are you doing? Are you referring to Visual Reports that create a Pivot table in Excel?
We can't read your mind so you are going to have to explain exactly what you are doing and what you want to accomplish. An example with a screen shot would be helpful.
