MS Project Formula
I am relatively new to writing formulas, and am totally stumped. The company I work for builds instruments which all need to go through our 5 test chambers and 5 “clean rooms”. I manage a schedule which tracks when each instrument will be occupying either a chamber or room, and would like to write a formula to flag potential conflicts. The formula will need to look for tasks with overlapping dates that also have matching data in the “room/chamber” column. Is this possible? I hope I explained this properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm not so sure a formula is needed. Each test chamber is a work type resource as is each clean room. Given that, if you create 5 test chamber resources and 5 clean room resources, when you assign them to an instrument's tasks, any overallocation of those resources will be flagged (little red person) assuming you have resource leveling set up appropriately (i.e. day-by-day, hour-by-hour or minute-by minute).
Make sense? If not, then we need to see more details of how you have you plan set up (e.g. tasking, resources, etc.) so we can get you headed in the right direction.

Thank you!! That is a great idea, and maddeningly simple given how much time I spent puzzling the formula. I will try this Monday morning, and am fairly certain it is exactly the solution I was looking for.
I appreciate your response!- John-projectSilver ContributorAKatterhenry,
You're welcome and thanks for the feedback.
