MS Project custom fields on Dataverse
- Jul 05, 2023
Hello cuonglt0105 ,
Custom fields added in to the task in Project for the web are not available in the Dataverse tables.
Paul
When you import a Microsoft Project (*.mpp) file into Project for the Web, there are a number of features that are stripped from the *.mpp file. One of those features is custom fields. You will need to recreate those fields and populate the data in your projects. Sorry, but hope this helps.

Hello Paul,
I was looking on how to import form .mpp to Power Builder (aka dataverse) and I found the text that follows on the link below.
May be is innacurate? or the functionalities of Project for the WEB have been changed since? I will appreciate your comments, Thanks

What gets imported?
Project for the web does not have all the same features as Project Desktop. However, we try to import all your relevant information so you can still effectively work on your projects.
- Project: Your project name and start date will be imported.
- Tasks: Your tasks will be imported with the correct hierarchy, start & finish dates, duration, effort, effort completed, and % complete.
- Dependencies: All finish-to-start dependencies will be imported.
- Constraints: ASAP, start no earlier than, and finish no earlier than constraints will be imported.
- Custom Fields: You can import up to 10 local custom fields from your .mpp file.

Hi Paul_Mather,
You seem to be quite well informed, so I hope you don't mind me asking - I've gone through a number of answers/articles related to this topic but haven't quite seen the answer I'm looking for.. the custom columns are not stored in the Dataverse, but where are they stored? no one seems to have provided this information, and the data would need to be stored somewhere? do you or any other knowledgeable people in the forums know how/where the data is stored?
At this point I don't even care if it's not in a location I can pull from, not knowing where its stored is eating me up.
Thanks in advance for any assistance and help across these forums!

PewPewProject, Agreeded, If I could be able to read and write from custom columns, I would be able to build some great apps that could possible remove a significant number or excel project management documents from my company. more cohesive everything

Paul_Mather Hi Paul, is there any update on this? Do you know if there are plans to make the Project for the Web custom fields available in Dataverse? Thank for any hint!
