Intermediate issue when assigning tasks in project online

Hi All

I am seeing a intermediate issue when replacing the resource name on some of my projects. 

The issue is that, sometimes, the "replace" button is greyed out on the online software, see pictures

 

The issue seems to be confined to the project as the same resource causing the issue can be assigned tasks in another project 

If you open the same project in the desktop app the same issue doesnt occur

Does anyone know what could be causing it?

    Interesting question. I am able to use the Replace button when I have the full list of resources available on the left side of the screen. But when I click the Match button to show only those resources with the same skill set (I set up skill matching in Project Online), then the Replace button is grayed out.

    I am not sure why this is happening. My only suggestion is that if you have Microsoft Project Professional available for use with Project Online, that you use Microsoft Project to plan and manage your projects instead of the PWA user interface. Hope this helps.

      Thanks for your swift response

      Its a strange one as it doesnt seem to happen across different projects. The same users can be replaced in one file but not in another

       

      We do have some project professional licences but the majority of the company only have Project 1 so ideally the Project 1 users should be able to reassign tasks.

       

      Thanks for your help, I'll keep digging to see if I can find a reason for it

        For users with a Project Plan 1 license, they will need to reassign tasks using either the Timesheet page or the Tasks page in PWA. That is because they do not have permission to open and edit projects.

        If you track down the reason for your original problem (and my problem as well), please let me know the root cause, as I am VERY curious about this. Thanks!
